Childhood - Fantasy

Christina first became interested in the visual arts when she was very young. As a small child, she loved creating fantasy creatures in her head and dreamed of being able to show them to others some day. She was often asked by her friends to draw them pictures of animals and fantasy creatures.

Childhood - Nature

Christina has always had a deep love of nature from her childhood of spending whole summers barefoot more often than not - running around the creeks and woods near her home. She also often went camping with her family at near and distant beautiful places.

Preteens - Environmentalism

A teacher in her middle school taught her of the plight that our environment was facing. She resolved to protect the health of this world and the beautiful spaces around her. It pained her to see the woods around her home rapidly torn down for development.

Highschool to College - Portraits & More Environmentalism

While she attended Sanford School in Hockessin, DE, she fell in love with drawing portraits! She loved taking the time to truly see a person and felt she could connect with others and know them more deeply by drawing them - she liked the most drawing people actively doing something they enjoy or love. Portraits also were a powerful way to finely hone her technical skills.
Environmentally, she altered her lifestyle by recycling, conserving water, and continuely researching to learn more ways to live eco-friendly. She further supported the environment and human rights by writing to her legislators. She also worked at a local health food store and at the local Ashland Nature Center as a teacher/naturalist.

Adulthood - Design & Color (& more environmentalism!)

She felt the one thing she was lacking ability in was color so she was happy to take a job as a web designer - a place where she has seen her ability to choose color and master abstraction thrive. She has also found it very helpful for enhancing her compositional abilities.
As an added bonus, she found a web design company that has strong environmental and human rights values - this allows her to use her skills to help many companies and causes she believes in. She continues to write and research and even recently had a very eco-friendly wedding!
